Last Year's Events

Last year's Esprit was fun-filled and offered favorite traditional activities and events as well as entirely new ones. Here's a recap of the bigger events:

The traditional Sunday evening icebreaker Cocktail Party was held for all of the early arrivals at Esprit. This year's icebreaker once again showed the latest group of new girls mingling with previous attendees, watching the magic that is Esprit begin Sunday night.
Classes kicked off on Monday. The short skirts arrived in force at the nearby Delaney's pub and pool hall that evening to play in one of Esprit's most popular events, the annual Esprit Pool Tournament. The competition was stellar, the drinks were plenty, the heels were high, and some skirts were really mini. Congratulations to Waneta, our 2007 Champion!
The day began with a full slate of activities such as winery tours, high tea in Victoria BC, and the first ever Esprit/Port Angeles Art Walking Tour. In the evening, hats and fashion competed with the horses for attention at the Esprit Ascot. The Significant Other program kicked off a week filled with well attended luncheons and wine and cheese gatherings where wine was drunk and food was consumed. Dotti Berry facilited groups on relationship dynamics; tears and laughter were shared.
On Wednesday the Port Angeles Community Players treated attendees to a private showing of the award-winning play "Whose Wives Are They, Anyway?" The cast went out of their way to welcome us by including Esprit-themed lines and an Esprit article in the local newspaper as a prominent prop. After the play, the cast and ushers stayed to mingle with the audience and take pictures on the set.
A smashing time was had by all who attended the 1st Annual Afternoon Tea in the Red Lion dining room. On antique dishes hand-polished and donated by KD Antiques, everyone enjoyed Tazo teas, huge strawberries topped with Chantilly cream, scrumptuous tea sandwiches, and dainty cakes, scones, tarts, truffles...and candles. Thursday night saw attendees choosing their favorite traditional informal theme dinner. Fine French cuisine, family style Chinese food, award-winning Thai...Port Angeles has it all. It's an intentionally quiet evening in preparation for an intense weekend. For those who didn't want to settle down, you could enjoy DJ dance music at the hotel or the The Nasty Habits playing live in town.
The Friday Talent Show and this year's "Broad Way" show presented great comedy sketches interspersed with courageous and talented attendees who performed their own acts. After the show, the ladies rocked until midnight to the sounds of "The Woodies" who returned this year for an encore performance.
The final classes wrapped up on Saturday. The traditional and emotional graduation ceremony was held for first-time attendees and SO's. The theme for Saturday's gala was Mardi Gras and featured The Krewe of Carma and her Parade of the Virgins as well as dinner music by the Port Angeles Jazz Band and then a truly rockin' good time with "Free Rain", one of the finest cover bands to ever grace our stage. The traditional Esprit pajama party was a final time for pizza, soda, stories of the week, foot massages, and a way to wind down from the week. This year was no exception and a great time was had by all.
