Spencer Bergstedt

Spencer Bergstedt is a principal at North Sound Law, PS. He is a general practitioner emphasizing bankruptcy, estate planning, probate, guardianship, and business. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees at the University of Washington. A long time legal activist, Spencer currently serves on the board of the Transgender Law & Policy Institute and is a member of the WPATH Legal Committee. A nationally recognized speaker on transgender legal issues, he is also the author of numerous articles and books on LGBT legal issues

Trans Law 101: Your Identity

If you have questions about how to take care of your identity changes in transition, this workshop will provide you with answers. We'll cover such basic items as name changes, drivers license, birth certificate, passport, social security as well as other basic how-to's for taking care of your identity in transition.

Trans Law 201: Legal Topics

Once transition has occurred and identity documents have been changed, there are many other legal issues that affect you as a trans woman and/or partner/spouse. Bring your questions on such issues as marriage, divorce, making babies, estate planning, elder law issues, insurance and more as time allows.
